Importation and export of layers

Nearest "colleague" of the vectorial program of adobe Illustrator is the editor of a pointwise drawing of adobe Photoshop in whom the mechanism of layers also is used. In this connection it is necessary to understand their interaction.

By importation of a file from Adobe Photoshop program in which some layers, happen convergence of layers, and the point image is allocated on one layer.

In turn, at export of the document from Adobe Illustrator program in the point image all layers can be shown in one (thus "hidden" and sample layers are not exported).

If it is necessary to save layers in dialog box Photoshop Options (Parameters of document Photoshop) it is installed flags Write Layers (to Save layers). Write Nested Layers (to Save nested layers) and Hidden Layers (the Latent layers). The document is saved in a format of the program of adobe Photoshop (PSD): each layer of the vector image ????????????? in a point image layer, and also is added a background layer. The detail information about importation and export look in chapter 14.

Display of point images

Flag Dim Images to (the Background mode) (fig. 10.14) in dialog box Layer Options (layer Parameters) "answers" for representation of the imported point images on the given layer: it can be ???????????? representation (the flag is not installed) which at the big resolution and image size can decelerate very strongly operation, and simplified (at the installed flag and the given percent of a transparency in a range from 0 to 100 %) which does not demand the big temporal resources.

One more advantage of such simplified ("dim") representation is possibility to work over the image, for example, with a vectorial mask or a vectorial circuit.
Nota Bene. Thus it is necessary to mean that image simplification concerns only the screen, at printout the image is deduced at the full capacity.

That the point image was displayed on the screen and in a key line mode (command Outline (the Key line mode) menu View (Review)), is necessary in dialog box Document Setup (document Parameters) to install flag Show Images In Outline (to Display the pointwise drawing in a key line mode).

Otherwise the point image is represented in the form of simple (equal to "picture" overall dimensions) a rectangle.

Convergence of layers

Layers represent remarkable help in an operating time, but finally to transfer the ready document with set of the intermediate layers, to send it on the press and the more so to store not too expediently (though and not so is critical, as it takes place by operation in editors of a pointwise drawing).

In this connection in the program command Flatten Artwork (to Fulfil convergence) the palette menu is provided, allowing to reduce all visible layers in one, and invisible to delete. It is more radical command, than Merge Selected (to Unite the selected layers), therefore before application of the given command it is necessary to prepare operation carefully: to include demanded layers and to hide, and it is better to delete, unnecessary, and then to select a layer on which convergence will be carried out. Such layer, naturally, the hidden, fixed or sample layer cannot serve. More often the uppermost visible layer is used.

At convergence of layers it is necessary to consider following moments.
If the hidden layers having objects are exposed to convergence, on the screen the dialog box in which possibility to delete the latent layers together with objects is offered on a choice is deduced or to return to a layer property of visibility and to allocate objects on one layer.
The layer on which, are allocated, all objects, loses some parameters, for example, a transparency or masks,
Some layers are converted in groups to save available effects.
Irrespective of, on what layer layers are reduced, their initial order does not change.

Printing of separate layers

Possibilities of a manipulation come to an end with layers on printing operation. Layers with the disconnected character of "eyes" (the hidden layers) () are not printed, but in dialog box Layer Options (layer Parameters) it is possible to "dissolve" these properties: the layer can be visible on the screen, but on the press not to get and on the contrary.

By means of setting and removal of flags Show to (Show) and Print to (Print) it is possible to receive four display modes and printing of objects of each layer separately:
Not to display on the screen and not to print: flags Show are removed to (Show) and Print to (Print);
To display on the screen and to print; flags Show are installed to (Show) and Print to (Print);
Not to display on the screen, but to print: flag Show is removed to (Show) and flag Print is installed to (Print);
To display on the screen, but not to print: flag Show is installed to (Show) and flag Print is removed to (Print).

At removed flag Print to (Print) a layer name it is displayed by an italic font.

Such functions are extremely useful to performance of proofs, for operation acceleration, for determination of erratic situations, for saving on unprintable layers of instructions and additional convergence on document preparation, for cultivation on several layers of images for different users and for many other things.
Nota Bene. It is necessary to remind that the sample layer is not printed and not saved at export.

Creation ??????????? masks

As obtravochnoj mask (clipping mask) is called the object or group of the objects which form masks (an accent on the second syllable) display of underlaying objects (fig. 10.15, 10.16).
Rice 10.15. An example of source objects

Rice 10.16. An example ??????????? masks

At creation ??????????? masks it is necessary to take into consideration following singularities.
The object, which form is used in quality ??????????? masks, and masked objects should be allocated on the same layer or be a part of the same group.
The uppermost object of a layer or group becomes ??????????? a mask for all objects allocated more low on the given layer or entering into given group. For example, the upper object on layer Layer 1 is about-travochnym for all objects and groups of layer Layer 1, but not for layer Layer 2.
Objects to which action ??????????? masks is spread, are marked in palette Layers (Layers) by dotted lines.
As a result of object converting, in ??????????? a mask the last loses parameters of filling and ???????.

For creation ??????????? masks it is necessary to select in palette Layers (Layers) a demanded layer or group, considering that the uppermost object turns to a circuit restricting display. Then it is necessary to push button Make/Release Clipping Mask (to Create/exclude ??????????? a mask) () in the lower part palettes Layers (Layers). The object which provides ??????????? a mask, is underlined by a continuous line - Repeated pushing eliminates ??????????? a mask.

The same purpose is served by command Make Clipping Mask (to Create ??????????? a mask) the palette menu. After performance the command is replaced with command Release Clipping Mask (to Eliminate ??????????? a mask).

The information on masking of separate objects look in chapter 5.
