The modern graphic design, especially advertizing direction, does not do without operation with the text and though Adobe Illustrator program is not the text editor, nevertheless all cores function »it allocates text editings.
Spell check
Command Check Spelling (Spelling) of menu Type (Text) ?????????? spell check of English texts in the selected text unit and at error trapping forms their list which is displayed in the dialog box with the same name (fig. 11.54).
At selection in list Misspelled Words (Words with errors) incorrectly written word in list Suggested Corrections (Offered, changeover variants) the dial-up is deduced from the "correct" words one of which can be selected for changeover. If the "correct" variant is not present generally or any of offered words does not approach, in the lowermost field it is possible to enter a proper word.
Flag CaseSeasitive (Match case) allows to distinguish words with capital ("big") or from a line ("small") letter.

For changeover of a wrong word by correct of the list or from a field of manual input it is necessary to push one of buttons Change to (Replace) or Change All (to Replace all). Button Change to (Replace) carries out changeover only the first case of a wrong word in the text and the following case, and button Change All (to Replace all) selects at once corrects all cases of wrong spelling of the given word.
If the word got to the list wrong only because misses in the dictionary, for example, abbreviation, a surname or a rare word it is necessary to push one of buttons Skip to (Pass) or Skip All (to Pass all) (distinction of the given buttons to identically distinction of buttons Change (to Replace) and Change All (to Replace all)). This word will be remote from the list wrong, but at the following check again will be qualified as wrong.
To avoid a similar situation, this word can be added in the dictionary, pushing button Add to List to (Add). It is possible to add some words for one click if to select proper words in the list at a pushed key [Ctrl]. The words added in the list, are saved in file AlUser.dct which is in folder Plug-ins/Text Filters.
The new word added in the dictionary, also can contain an error, therefore in the program possibility of editing of the added words is provided. Pushing button Edit List to (Edit) displays dialog box Learned Words (the Learnt words) (fig. 11.55) in which by the same principles it is possible to edit, add (button Add) to replace (button Change) or to delete (button Remove) the word selected in the list.
Button click Language (Language) in dialog box Check Spelling (Spelling) opens dialog box Open (file Discovery) from which the dictionary of demanded language (Russian dictionary is selected is not provided).
Search and text changeover
The dial-up of "conveniences" of operation with the text always includes function ??????? «text changeovers. In the program of adobe Illustrator text search ??^??????^? ^ ?????? types of text units and changeover happens to saving of all parameters of a font (typeface, an outline, a size, color, ???????????? etc.).
Command Und/Change to (Find/replace) menu ?y?? (Text) displays the dialog box with the same name (fig. 11.56).

The text for search is entered in the field Find what to (Find), and if changeover in the field Change to (to Replace on) the text for changeover is entered is required.
Thus it is possible to change search options and changeovers if to use in various combinations four flags of a dialog box.

Flag Whole Word (the Whole word) provides ?????.?????? only as whole word, excepting its entrance in the form of a part of other words. |

Flag Case Sensitive (Match case) provides search taking into account capital and lowercase letters. |

Flag Search Backward (In the opposite direction) provides Search in the opposite direction: from a cursor position to the document beginning. |

Flag Wrap Around (to Continue from the beginning) provides search in all document: from a cursor position till the end of the document and then from the beginning of the document and to a cursor position. |
Control of search and changeover is carried out by means of buttons.

In the course of typing of one of the widespread and annoying errors erratic switching of the register - Command Change Case (to Change the register) menu Type (Text) is displays a dialog box (fig. 11.57) in which it is possible to change the register of the selected font.

Switch Upper Case (All capital) translates the selected text in an uppercase, and the text becomes typed by one capital ("big") letters. |

Switch Lower Case (All line) translates the selected text in the lower register, and the text becomes typed by one line ("small") letters. |

Switch Mixed Case (the Mixed register) provides a dial-up as in title (by English rules all significant words in titles are written from capital letter). |
The keypad inherited almost all restrictions of the typewriter, with its help it is impossible to enter typographical inverted commas (as in the different countries they different), the "correct" em dash and many other things.
These signs, as a rule, are available in a font file, but to enter them it is possible by means of a dial-up of the numeral code which, at first, should be remembered, and secondly, it at least five pushings of keys. Therefore in many programs function of changeover of the signs entered from the keypad, on the signs which are required for the polygraphic document, for example, changeover typewritten inverted commas on "pads" and etc. is provided
Command Smart Punctuation (Typographical punctuation) menu Type (Text) displays the dialog box with the same name (fig. 11.58) in which changeovers of typewritten (keyboard) signs by the polygraphic are presented.

Flags ff, fi, ffi Ligatures (Ligatures ff, fi. Hi) and ff, I, ffl Ligatures (Ligatures ff, fl, ffl) urged to replace some repeating letters and special combinations with the uniform character named, a ligature. For performance by the program of this changeover in an operating system the special font file of firm of adobe (Adobe Expert font) should be installed. The ligature in Russian polygraphy is not used (short of a sign ? which turned from two letters No to the uniform character). |
