For export of images to format Illustrator EPS commands Save As (to Save as) or Save a Copy (to Save a copy) are used, and for remaining formats ? command Export to (Export) menu File (File).

Many programs allow to import immediately documents of the program of adobe Illustrator, but as a result of "leapfrog" of versions it can appear that the document in one of prior versions is required.
Certainly that it is better to try to avoid such situation as prior versions can not support some functions (in version 8 technologies of a transparency and "exterior appearance") were not applied yet, for example.
For document saving in prior version it is necessary to use command Save As (to Save as) menu File (File) which after assignment of a name of a file in the dialog box with the same name displays one more dialog box Illustrator Native Format Options (Parameters of format Illustrator) (fig. 14.10) from which it is possible to select a format of one of program prior versions.

(Compatibility) it is possible to select the necessary version of the program from uncovered list Compatibility: 9.0, 8.0, 7.0, 6.0 5-0/5.5, 4.0 and 3.0/3.2.
According to the selected version there are accessible those or other functions:
| Embed All Fonts (for other application) (to Allocate all fonts for other applications); | |
| Subset fonts when less than... of the characters are used (the Subset of fonts when it is used less... Characters); | |
| Embed ICC Profile (to Allocate profile ICC); | |
| Include Linked Files (to Include the bound files); | |
| Use Japanese File Format (to Use a Japanese format of a file). |
In switch Transparency (Transparency) variants of change of parameters of a transparency are presented at saving to formats which do not support it:
| Preserve Paths (discard transparency) (to Save circuits to delete a transparency); | |
| Preserve Appearance (flatten transparency) (to Save exterior appearance to reduce a transparency). |
If in the document elements which cannot find an adequate embodiment in a prior version format contain, on the screen the general warning will be deduced.
Document saving in format EPS
Format EPS is the most general-purpose format for information interchange with other applications as almost all text editors, programs of imposition and a drawing can import it, all graphic elements and color parameters (both in model RGB, and in model CMYK) are thus saved. Besides, formats EPS and ?1 (a format of the program of adobe Illustrator) an essence the close variants of language PostScript (that creates positive and negative sides), therefore in list Save as Type (File type) format EPS is presented in the form of Illustrator EPS.
For document saving in format Illustrator EPS it is necessary to use command Save As (to Save as) menu File (File) which after assignment of a name of a file in the dialog box with the same name displays one more dialog box EPS Format (Format EPS) (fig. 14.11) in which some parameters of the document are defined.
(Compatibility) it is possible to select a format of one of prior versions from uncovered list Compatibility: 9.0, 8.0, 7.0, 6.0 5.0/5.5, 4.0 and 3.0/3,2. The variant of the current version is By default activated.
In group Preview (the Screen version) it is possible to provide creation of the small image which is displayed in dialog box Open to (Open) and helps the user to find the necessary documents faster.

The type of this image is selected century uncovered list Format (Format). Distinction between variants TIFF (Black and White) (TIFF, black-and-white) and TIFF (8-bit Color) (TIFF, 8-bit color) consists that in the first case the image is saved as black-and-white shaped, and in the second ? as color - If it is necessary to eliminate a miniature (all the same it increases file size), variant None (Without a miniature is used). The switch in positions Transparent (Transparent) or Opaque (Opaque) at a choice of variant TIFF (8-bit Color) (TIFF, 8-bit color) provides the transparent or opaque background of the image.
In group Options (Variants) by means of flags are defined following functions.
| Flag Include Linked Files (to Include the bound files) provides switching-on in an EPS-file of images which have been imported to the initial document of the program of adobe Illustrator, for example, point images. | |
| Flag Include Document Thumbnails (to Include a miniature) provides the miniature saving which type is defined in group Preview (the Screen version). | |
| Flag Include Document Fonts (to Include document fonts) provides document saving together with necessary font set. | |
| Flag Use Japanese File Format (to Save in a file of a Japanese format) is used for saving of the document with Japanese hieroglyphs. This flag is important for versions 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0. In the last versions of products for a drawing and desktop publishing systems the close attention is given singularities of writing of the Far East people (that it is impossible to tell about the people of Russia). | |
| Flag CMYK PostScript is intended for support of conversion of colors of model RGB in colors of model CMYK - At discovery of a file with such setting in Adobe Illustrator program initial color is saved. |
In uncovered list PostScript versions of language PostScript ? Level I, Level 2 or Level 3 are presented. The variant choice partially depends on exterior factors (the used software for importation of the given file and the printing equipment), and a part from internal (presence of graduated fills or graded-index grids).
In particular, the version of language PostScript Level 1 supports the vectorial and pointwise drawing only in gradation gray, upcoming version PostScript Level 2 can include both to the schedule in gradation gray, and color images in models RGB, CMYK and Lab CIE, and also to use some methods of compression (LZW, CCJTT and JPEG). The last version PostScript Level 3 allocates additional possibilities, including support of graded-index grids (gradient mesh).
In switch Transparency (Transparency) variants of change of parameters of a transparency are presented at saving to formats which do not support it:
| Preserve Paths (discard transparency) (to Save circuits to delete a transparency) saves the document without parameters of a transparency and accompanying functions ? masks of opacity and superimposing modes, and all objects receive opacity of 100 %; | |
| Preserve Appearance (flatten transparency) (to Save exterior appearance to reduce a transparency) saves visibility of a transparency, but reduces the image to normal objects. |
Format PDF (Portable Document Format) also is development of firm of adobe as means of electronic propagation of documents for platforms Macintosh, Windows, UNIX and DOS. Files in this format form, edited and viewed by means of Adobe Acrobat software package. Possibility of saving of the document in this format many products of firm of adobe, in particular have programs Illustrator, Photoshop, PageMaker and InDesign. With the big or smaller success it is used by graphic programs and other firms.
Format PDF in which basis language PostScript Level 2 is supposed, can be used for representation both vectorial, and point images. Advantage of PDF-files consists that they can contain elements, ??????????????? search and review of electronic documents, in particular, hypertext links and an electronic table of contents.
For document saving in format Acrobat PDF it is necessary to use command Save As (to Save as) menu Ffle (File) which after assignment of a name of a file in the dialog box with the same name displays ??? one dialog box of adobe PDF Format (Adobe PDF Format) (fig. 14.12 and 14.13) in which document parameters are defined.

In group File Compatibility (Compatibility of files) the switch is installed in the position corresponding to one of versions of format Acrobat ? 5.0 or 4.0. At setting of flag Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities (to Save editing possibility) the document can be opened again in the Adobe program illustrator and to continue editing.
In group Options (Parameters) are presented following flags:
| Embed All Fonts (to Allocate all fonts); | |
| Subset fonts when less than... of the characters are used (the Subset of fonts when it is used less... Characters); | |
| Embed ICC Profile (to Allocate profile ICC); | |
| Generate Thumbnails (to Create miniatures). |
Section Compression (Compression) gives possibility to define parameters of compression for various types of the images exported to document PDF:

| Grayscale Bitmap Images (Point images in gradation gray); | |
| Monochrome Bitmap Images (Monochrome point images). |
Each field has identical structure:
| Field Average Down sampling at (Average resolution); | |
| Flag and list Compression (Compression); | |
| List Quality (Quality). |
Flag Compress Text And Line Art (Compression of the text and shaped images) provides compression and for this category of objects.
