Adobe Streamline program gives possibility of trace by the several methods which choice is carried out in dialog box Conversion Setup (conversion Parameters) (fig. ?2.12), caused on the screen by the menu command Options with the same name (Parameters).
In the field Methods (Methods) it is possible to select one or several flags which titles correspond to trace methods.
Method Outline (Planimetric) is intended for trace of illustrations (images with accurate local color sections), graphic operations and other images with unequal thickness of lines (fig. ?2.13). This method it is possible to process both two-color, and colorfull images. The principle of operation of a planimetric method consists in delineating by a circuit of color area within the tolerance and filling with its appropriate color.

Method Centerline (Average line) is intended for trace of technical images and images of business and art character with identical thickness of lines (fig. ?2.14). This method is especially effective for black-and-white shaped documents. The principle of operation of a method of an average line consists that the program does not contour a line on perimeter, and, defining line center, creates a vectorial circuit.
The method line Recognition (Recognition of lines) is used for recovery of strictly vertical and strictly horizontal lines which at scanning can receive a small deviation within 5 degrees (fig. ?2.15). This method is used, mainly, for trace of circuits, schedules, drawings and other images consisting of horizontal and vertical lines.
The last method has some likeness to a method of an average line. As a result of operation of both methods the image turns out from circuits which are formed by recognition of ending points and their connection in a uniform circuit. The program ignores lines which are shorter 1/4 inches (6,3 mm) and thicker 1/2 inches (12,7 mm).

All methods can be combined with each other depending on the task of trace and character of the source image.
In the field Noise Suppression (noise Suppression) groups Accuracy (Accuracy) of dialog box Conversion Setup (conversion Parameters) is defined an amount ???????? for "object" (for example, stains) which is not considered at trace. A range of this value from 1 to 80 ????????.
In the field Tolerance (Tolerance) is installed accuracy of delineating of color stains in a range from 1 to 5; The value less, the trace is more precisely fulfilled.
Group Lines (Lines) serves for determination of character of planimetric lines:
| Straight lines only (Only direct lines); | |
| Curved lines only (Only curved lines); | |
| Curved and straight lines (Curves and direct lines). |
In the latter case setting of a ratio of curves and direct lines in a range from 1 to 5 is possible.
The flag, Reverse Image (Negative) allows to invert the image and to receive a negative.
Parameters of method Centertine
This method is applied only to black-and-white shaped images at which lines have a thickness to 6 points (about 2 mm).
Field Line Thinning (Determination of a thickness of a line) groups Accuracy (Accuracy) of dialog box Conversion Setup (conversion Parameters) (fig. ?2.12 see) serves for change of a method of calculation of center of a line: the the value installed in this field less, the there is a trace more precisely.
However, if enough great value is installed, it is possible to install flag Interactive Thinning (Interactive determination of a thickness of a line), providing during process of trace an output to the screen of dialog box Skeletoning (Minimization) in which it is possible to reduce number of stages.
Recommended values depend on resolution of the initial point image and the maximum thickness of a line. The value installed in the field line Thinning (Determination of a thickness of a line), should be equal or exceed a thickness of a line. For example, if the maximum thickness of a line makes 3 ??????? at resolution ' 300 dpi, it is necessary to install a sign at least equal 3.
If the maximum line exceeds a thickness in 6 ???????? it is necessary to use a combination of methods Centerline (the Central line) and Outline (Planimetric) and to install value in 6. In this case lines ???????? also will be less converted on line center, and a line over this value ? on perimeter.
In the course of converting the program fixes nodes of connection of lines mugs. If the number of the fixed nodes seems excessive (nodes appeared in unnecessary places) it is necessary to increase number of steps. As a result of a mug remain only there where it is necessary.
In the field Tolerance (Tolerance) is installed accuracy of delineating of color stains in a range from 1 to 5. The value less, the trace is more precisely fulfilled.
Field Uniform Line Weight (Identical thickness of a line) allows to select a thickness of a line (from 0 to 12 ????????; by default the program installs the thickness equal 1) for assignment of this value ???????????????? ' to circuits.
If the point image consists of lines of various width it is not necessary to install the given parameter as it can lead to distortion of a picture as a result of trace.
Flag White Lines (White ?????) is used for converting of white lines on a black background.
Flag Separate Shapes (to Divide forms) defines ?????? what Adobe Streamline program creates a circuit contouring area with the close colors. If the flag is installed, each area ¦ will be transformed by Tonechiogo of the image to the finished circuit and if two areas have the general boundary (for example, areas on a map) the circuit in the field of contact will be doubled.
This flag is most common also at trace of images which assume the further handling in one of vector graphics programs, for example, in Adobe Illustrator program.

This method is used, mainly, for trace of circuits, schedules, drawings and other images consisting of horizontal and vertical lines. The program ignores lines which are shorter 1/4 inches (6,3 mm) and thicker 1/2 inches (12,7 mm).
Flag Reverse Image (Negative) groups Art (Image) of dialog box Conversion Setup (conversion Parameters) allows to convert the image in a negative.
Flag White Lines (White lines) is used for converting of white lines on a black background.
If ????????????? the image is color or uses a gray scale it is necessary to use dialog box Color/BAW Setup (Colour-noe/cherno-beloe) (fig. ?2.16) which opens menu command Options with the same name (Parameters).

| Black and White Only (Only black-and-white); | |
| Limited Colors (Restricted number of colors); | |
| Use Castom Colors (Custom colors); | |
| Unlimited Colors (Number of colors without restriction). |
Depending on a variant choice there are accessible those or other dial-ups of fields.
At image trace on ??????? and white colors become accessible switches Threshold (Threshold) and Contrast (Contrast) (fig. ?2.16) which allow to define a method of conversion of the image.
| At a choice of variant Threshold (Threshold) is defined absolute value of the level which is boundary for sharing of color ???????? on white and black. The more value of the installed threshold, the is less number ???????? than black color, and on the contrary. | |
| At a choice of variant Contrast (Contrast) is defined the relative value of level. Being boundary for sharing ???????? on having white and black colors. The above value of contrast, the color adjacent ???????? that they could be converted in various colors should be more contrast. |
Field Boost (Gain) is accessible only at variant Contrast (Contrast) and serves for a contrast range extension more to detail light areas (white color) and shade areas (black color). It allows to reveal image fine details on very light or very dark sections. Such function is necessary at handling of illustrations with badly expressed visibility. For magnification of definition of details it is required to install ??????? value.;
At a choice in list Posterization (Posterization) of variant Limited Colors (Ofanichennoe number of colors) in the field Maximum # of colors (the Maximum number of colors) can install specific value, smaller or equal to number of colors of the source image (fig. ?2.17).
In the field Complexity (Complexity) can be defined, how much precisely program of adobe Streamline divides adjacent areas with various colors into separate circuits. The more value, the more circuits forms and, accordingly, ??????? the amount of colors is used by that for filling of these circuits.
Flag Reduce detail (Removal of details) defines detail level of the converted image. If the flag is not installed, the program doubles source image resolution before trace and if it is installed trace happens with ????????? value of resolution.

This function is the most reasonable for using for trace of the image with the big local colors, (sections of homogeneous color), instead of for trace of images of photo-realistic character.
At a choice of variant Unlimited Colors (Number of colors without restriction) the number of colors is defined automatically, proceeding from the current image and setting in the field Complexity (Complexity). Parameters for this variant coincide with a variant limited Colors (Restricted number of colors).
At a choice of variant Use Custom Colors (Custom colors) the program uses colors of the current list (fig. ?2.18).
Flag Tagged colors only (Only the marked colors) provides usage only colors which beforehand have been marked in palette Paint Style (Style of a coloring) or in dialog box Custom Color (Custom color).
Flag Add new colors to custom color list (to Add new colors in the list of colors) adds the colors generated in the course of trace, in the list of custom colors.

Saving of parameters and their usage
Parameters which are installed in dialog boxes Color/B&W Setup (Color/black-and-white) and Conversion Setup (conversion Parameters), on the one hand, are numerous enough, and on the other hand, are extremely important, therefore in Adobe Streamline program possibility of their saving for the further usage is provided. For this purpose command Settings (Setting) of menu Options (Parameters) it is necessary to cause the dialog box with the same name (rice ?2.19).
In the list in the upper part of a dialog box names of the saved dial-ups of setting which can be used immediately or as an initial variant are presented. The dialog box most part is occupied by display of the parameter list and their values.
For creation of the list of setting it is necessary to use button Create to (Create) and field Settings Name the Name of setting).
By means of button Delete to (Delete) it is possible to delete a dial-up of setting unnecessary more, selecting it in the list.

After determination of all parameters procedure of trace which is launched by command Convert (Conversion) of menu File (File) is fulfilled.
In trace runtime on the screen the band of the progress displaying percent of execution and an amount of created circuits is deduced.
The program allows to fulfill trace of a considerable quantity of the same files in a package mode. For this purpose it is necessary to execute command Batch Select (packet Creation) menu File (File). The dialog box with the same name (rice, ?2.20) from which it is possible to select some independent files from various folders As a result opens and to unite them in a uniform packet for automatic or interactive handling.

After formation of a packet of files it is necessary in the field FBes to Process (Handling of files) to select one of files or everything, pushing button Select All (to Select all), and then to push button Begin Processing (to Begin handling).
The selected files sequentially will be loaded in the program and ottras-sirovany in automatic or an interactive mode.
Flag Batch Output To Source Folder (Saving of the finite document in a source folder) serves for saving of the transformed document in the same folder where there is a source file.
Flag Replace Files With Same Name (to Replace files with identical names) allows to rewrite the new traced documents to the place of files with identical names.
After button click ?? on the screen dialog box Save Batch Format (the Format of saving of files of a packet) (fig. ?2.21) from which it is possible to select one of four formats is deduced: Adobe Illustrator (AI), Illustrator EPS (EPS), Metafile (EMF), DXF (DXF).

Trace of fragments of the image by different methods
In some images for achievement of the maximum result it is more rational to trace different fragments different methods as Adobe Streamline program allows to solve this task.
To select a necessary fragment, it is necessary to use tools Marquee (Area), Lasso (?????) or Magic Wand (Magic wand).
After setting of necessary parameters it is necessary to select command Convert to (Transform) menu File (File). After trace it is necessary to select variant Raster Image (Point image) from list View Mode (Browse mode) of a working document window.
Then it is possible to execute command Select Inverse (Inverse of the selected area) menu Edit (Editing) now to place in the selected area the remained fragment of the image, or by means of selection tools to define other fragment, to set new parameters and to fulfill trace. To repeat these stages it is so much times, how many it is required.
If as a result of trace of various fragments areas which superimpose Each other are formed, it is necessary to install flag Eliminate Hidden Paths (to Delete the latent circuits) dialog box General Preferences (Main setting) which is caused on the screen by command General (Main) menus File/Preferences (Files/setting) (see fig. ?2.2).
Command Convert Selection Edge (to Transform the selected area) menu File (File) allows to trace the selected area as as the closed circuits with appropriate filling (in mode Outline (Planimetric), and as open circuits ? in the appropriate thickness (in mode Centerline (the Central line)).
Display and editing of the traced image
After trace performance in a working window there are accessible following display modes:
| Preview (Polnotsvetnyj a mode) | |
| Artwork (Key line mode) | |
| Preview Selection (Polnotsvetnyj a mode for the selected objects) |

| Rice ?2.22. Tools for operation with vector images: b> Selection, Lasso, Eyedropper, Adjust Curve, Adjust Line, Add Anchor Point, Delete Anchor Point, Zoom and Hand |
For editing of vectorial circuits in a palette of tools there are the tools presented on fig. ?2.22.
| Tool Selection (Arrow) serves for selection of one or several circuits. Operation with this tool differs nothing from operation of similar tools of the program of adobe Illustrator. Rectilinear segments are displayed green, and curvilinear ? red color. | |
| Tool Lasso (?????) is intended for selection of separate circuits which "are outlined" by the arbitrary line. To select a separate segment or a reference point with this tool it is impossible. | |
| Tool Eyedropper (Pipette) serves for transferring of color from the image in a palette of tools. | |
| Tool Adjust Curve (Adjustment of curves) serves for operation with the curvilinear segments. To change the form of the curvilinear segment (it is displayed in a key line mode by red color), it is necessary to bring to it the cursor and to move in the necessary direction. If to capture a reference point it can be moved and by that to change the form and an adjacent segment. The rectilinear segment can be transformed to curvilinear if to capture it and to pull aside. | |
| Tool Adjust Line (Adjustment of straight lines) is intended for operation with rectilinear segments. For relocation of a rectilinear segment it is enough to capture of it in any place and to move. For change of the size and an inclination it is possible to capture a reference point and to move it. For conversion of the curvilinear segment in rectilinear it is necessary to click the mouse button on the curvilinear segment. For temporal switching between tools Adjust Curve (Adjustment of curves) and Adjust Line (Adjustment of Straight lines) It is necessary to push a key <Alt>. | |
| Tool Add Anchor Point (to Add a reference point) serves for adding of reference points which at selection are displayed by small small squares. For the best orientation it is necessary to select a necessary circuit, to include the tool and to click in a demanded place of a circuit. | |
| Tool Delete Anchor Point (to Delete a reference point) serves for removal of reference points. For removal of separate points it is necessary to click on each of them, and for removal of set of points it is necessary to outline their shaped frame. | |
| Tools Zoom (Scale) and Hand (Hand) are intended for scaling of the image and relocation of the increased image. |
For conversion of the Selected closed circuit to the correct geometrical form it is necessary to use appropriate menu command Edit/Convert To to (Edit/transform):
| Circle (Circle) | |
| Oval (Ellipse) | |
| Square (Square) | |
| Rectangle (Rectangle) |
If some circuits each of them will be transformed to the separate form are selected.
Group Smooth Paths commands (Smoothing of circuits) are intended for removal of superfluous reference points with saving of the form of an initial circuit menu Edit (Editing):
| Minimum (Minimum) with removal of every tenth reference point; | |
| Medium (??????) with removal of every fifth reference point; | |
| Maximum (As much as possible) with removal of every third reference point. |
For conversion of angular reference points of a circuit to the smooth it is necessary to use one of group Smooth Direction Points commands (Smooth points):
| Minimum (Minimum) with ???????????????? corners less than 15 degrees; | |
| Medium (??????) with converting of corners less than 30 degrees; | |
| Maximum (As much as possible) with converting of corners less than 45 degrees. |
Parameters of filling and ??????? are defined in palette Paint Style (Style of a coloring). The information on this palette look earlier in section "color Determination" ??????? applications.
